Lough Melvin is a fifteeen minute drive and hosts salmon and four species of trout,Common Brown Trout, Gillaroo Trout, Sonaghan Trout and Ferox Trout. Salmon fishing on Lough Melvin begins on Feb 1st.The River Duff is a spate river five minutes from Mullaghmore. There is a wide selection of rivers within the immediate area of Mullaghmore.

The North West of Ireland provides an excellent selection of rivers and lochs, as well as the sea. The River Drowes is a ten minute drive from Mullaghmore and is a very popular choice for locals and tourists. First salmon of the year is almost religiously caught in the Drowes at the start of the season on January 1st, attracting many fishing enthusiasts, young and old.
